Cardiac MusclesCardiac Muscles are striated and branched. Their main function is to assist in pumping blood to the heart. It alternates in contracting and relaxing of the cardiac muscle pumps. It causes the rhythmical beating of the heart which circulates blood throughout the body. Skeletal MusclesSkeletal muscles are "striated" because of the light and dark bands present when looking under a microscope. A single skeletal muscle muscle is shaped like a cylinder. The functions of the skeletal muscles is to aid the movement of limbs, toes, neck, and fingers (so your appendages.) Smooth MusclesSmooth muscles is not striated like the cardiac and skeletal muscles. The muscle fibers are small and tapered. Contractions of the smooth muscle constrict blood vessels .It is pretty beneficial in the moving of food through the gastrointestinal tract where food is broken down. Smooth muscles also contribute to the movement of fluids throughout the body.
